About Me
I am a professionally trained artist, with over 20 years experience creating portraits and other commissions. Since gaining a BA(Hons) in art from Middlesex University, I went on to work for the film and TV industry, as well as accepting private commissions.
Now based in Twickenham, I work from a studio at home.
The Portraits
If you decide you would like a portrait, I will arrange to meet you to discuss different ideas, and some practicalities, such at where the portrait will hang, and its size, and importantly, to gain some understanding of the subject's character. It is important to me to relay a truth and reality about the person I am drawing, and this initial conversation helps me to do this, and to create a natural feel to the portrait, and a portrait that fits with your needs.
I prefer to draw from life, but to limit the amount of sitting time needed, I will usually create an initial sketch of the sitter and then take photographs to complete the portrait in the studio. This method works particularly well with children, as many find it difficult to keep still for poses for any length of times.
The initial meeting including the sketch and the photographs will take about 2 hours, and is generally in the sitter's home.
